2010 Bar Stipend Winner Yvette Ochoa

The OCWLA is proud to honor our July 2010 Bar Stipend winner, Yvette Ochoa.  Ms. Ochoa is a native of Orange County, born in Anaheim, California and raised by her immigrant parents from Mexican.  Since grade school, Ms. Ochoa volunteered her time at numerous organizations, including Saint Vincent De Paul and the Los Angeles Food Bank.  While at Pepperdine, Ms. Ochoa continued her volunteerism by feeding the homeless and dedicating her time to raise funds for the local Court Appointed Special Advocates for four consecutive years.

After college, Ms. Ochoa returned back to her native Orange County to commence law school at Western State University, College of Law.  While clerking during her second year, Ms. Ochoa discovered her true legal passion – to assist low income families with family law issues.  This past year, Ms. Ochoa was certified as a tax preparer for the VITA program sponsored by Western State for low income families.

OCWLA honored Ms. Ochoa at the March 4, 2010 luncheon with a check for $1,000.00 to assist her with her bar costs.  Ms. Ochoa sat for the July 2010 bar examination and passed. She was sworn in on December 1 and ais now a proud member of the legal profession.
