The newly enacted SB1322 had the intent of decriminalizing the commercial sexual exploitation of minors. However, in practice, the subject of human trafficking is facing misunderstandings and controversy. Lita Mercardo, has been the lead on the OC Human Trafficking Task Force, will discuss the pervasive issues surrounding human trafficking in Orange County. Hon.Maria Hernandez will address the substance of the new law, as well as the implications surrounding SB1322 and Safe Harbor Laws. The presentation will include a catered lunch.
