Rachel Payne is the CEO and Co-Founder of holding company FEM Inc., a thinktank that focuses on the impact of media and entertainment upon society, with an emphasis on how representations of women and children affect longer term outcomes for them. She will present her research and provide the opportunity for dialogue on how to understand and improve outcomes for the most vulnerable and children.
 
Her recent research includes "How Media Shapes Perceptions of Science and Technology upon Girls and Women", "Leadership Fictions" and "Take Back the AD - how gender bias in digital ads increases sexism in young men" (published in partnership with Google).

The University of California has posted an outstanding opportunity for an experienced attorney (at the Counsel 2 level) to join the Educational Affairs, Public Accountability & Governance (EAPAG) group in the Office of General Counsel. 
 
This is a new position within a practice group that advises University of California leadership and administrators at both the University’s system-wide Office of the President (UCOP) and at UC’s ten campuses, five medical centers, and one National Laboratory on a broad range of legal matters in support of the University’s core academic mission. 
 
Issue areas on which this person may be asked to provide legal research, support, advice and advocacy include conflicts of interest, free speech and academic freedom, the University’s constitutional autonomy, governance practices, student affairs and discipline (including student sexual harassment and sexual violence cases), student residency, faculty issues including privilege and tenure, immigration, campus safety, privacy, open meetings, public records, research compliance, and more.

Chapman University seeks applications for a Part-Time Lecturer of Practice Foundations: Transactions for the Spring 2018 semester. Successful candidates will teach one 3-unit section of the required 2L course, Practice Foundations: Transactions. Practice Foundations: Transactions is a small-section course that introduces students to the practice of transactional law by exploring the role of lawyers in executing business-related transactions. Students acquire a foundation for practice through participation in exercises and simulated transactions. Students also practice communicating with and advising clients, drafting documents, dealing with other attorneys, and handling the intricacies of transactions. Chapman University, located in the heart of Orange County, California, offers traditional undergraduate programs in the arts and sciences and select pre-professional and graduate programs.
