Happy July,OCWLA Members and Friends!

Our Legacy Continues…

As we welcome July, our nation marks a remarkable milestone—250 years of freedom. This anniversary invites us to reflect on our history and on the legacy each generation leaves for those who follow. The freedoms we enjoy today were built through the vision, courage, and perseverance of those who came before us. It is now our responsibility to preserve that legacy while continuing to build upon it.

Legacy is much the same within our profession.

In June, OCWLA celebrated the remarkable women whose leadership has shaped our Association and strengthened the legal community throughout Orange County. At our annual High Tea with Past Presidents, we had the privilege of gathering with the women whose dedication, service, and vision established the foundation upon which we continue to grow. Listening to their stories and learning from their experiences served as a powerful reminder that leadership is not measured only by what we accomplish during our own tenure, but by the opportunities we create for those who come after.

That spirit of legacy shines throughout everything we do.

As we look ahead, we will continue celebrating the individuals who shape our profession and inspire future generations. On August 6, we will gather for our Women Judges’ Reception to recognize the remarkable jurists whose leadership strengthens our courts and our community. On October 15, we will celebrate excellence at our Annual Gala, honoring attorneys, judges, and advocates whose service has left a lasting impact on the legal profession. And on December 2, we will come together for our Installation Dinneras we celebrate another year of service and welcome the next generation of OCWLA leaders who will carry our mission forward.

At the same time, we remain committed to investing in the future. Through our Bar Stipends, OCWLA continues to support law students and young lawyers as they begin their professional journeys. By encouraging and empowering the next generation, we help ensure that the values of leadership, service, mentorship, and excellence continue well beyond today.

Building a legacy also means building relationships. Our June Membership Mixer reminded us that some of our strongest professional connections begin with a simple conversation. Whether reconnecting with longtime colleagues or welcoming new members into our community, each relationship strengthens the network that makes OCWLA such a vibrant and supportive organization.

As we celebrate our nation’s 250th anniversary this July, I encourage each of us to reflect on the legacy we are creating—not only through our work as attorneys, but through our mentorship, our service, and our commitment to lifting one another up. Together, we honor those who paved the way while inspiring those who will follow.

Our legacy continues to grow. I look forward to seeing you in July.
