Monday, May 15, 2017 12:44 PM | Executive Director (Administrator)

Food From The Bar is a four-week campaign spearheaded by the legal community that is focused on providing nutritious meals to people in need in Orange County. Food From The Bar consists of an active partnership between its steering committee, Orange County Bar Association and Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County. Together, we invite select members of Orange County’s legal community to join this important community project.

Today, Orange County is facing a real hunger crisis:

  • 335,000 People in Orange County are at risk of hunger every day – equal to the population of Anaheim, one of its largest cities
  • 141,000 children in Orange County – one out of every five - are food insecure
  • 167,200 seniors in Orange County – one out of every three - are at risk of going hungry
Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County is the leading provider of hunger relief in Orange County, committed to its mission to end hunger in Orange County once and for all. Food From The Bar is a new campaign, one that will serve to increase awareness about the hunger problem as well as provide critical support needed to ensure a solution.
Food From The Bar is more than a campaign – it is a competition! Participating organizations will be rallying support between May 1 and May 26, 2017 – with incentive points awarded to campaign leaders.
There are several ways you can participate:

DONATE FUNDS

Financial support is critical to Second Harvest’s ability to acquire, transport, store and distribute millions of pounds of food. By fundraising for the cause, you make a strong statement about your commitment to the community and to the fight against hunger in Orange County.

DONATE TIME
Participating organizations will deploy teams to our Distribution Center, where they can roll up their sleeves to directly impact the mission. Volunteer activities are organized, fun, and a great way to bond with your associates in support of a great cause. At our facility, more than 22,000 volunteers contribute over 110,000 hours every year. Volunteers are the heart and soul of Second Harvest Food Bank!

DONATE FOOD
Holding a food drive is an impactful way to work towards ending hunger in Orange County. Collected items typically include canned fruits and vegetables, canned meats such as tuna or chicken, soups and stews, beans, and other nutrient-rich shelf-stable foods. Participating teams can bring food they collect directly to Second Harvest when they volunteer, or a special pick-up arrangement can be made for large donations.

WIN PRIZES
Awards will be given to the highest contributors in several categories. Every organization participating will receive a certificate of appreciation for their support!
