    The Orange County Superior Court, seeks well-qualified attorneys who possess unquestionable personal integrity, patience, and good judgment to fill the position of Court Commissioner.  Court Commissioners conduct hearings, make findings and issue orders in a variety of case types, which may include criminal arraignments and dispositions, small claims, family, juvenile, traffic and unlawful detainer matters.  Court Commissioners serve at the pleasure of the Court and may be assigned to any Court facility. 
    Candidates must be active members in good standing with the State Bar of California and admitted to practice law in the State of California for at least ten (10) years. Appointments are subject to successful completion of background investigations. Once appointed, Court Commissioners may not engage in the private practice of law.

    The Los Angeles Superior Court is recruiting for Temporary Judges.  If any of your members are looking to enhance their legal skills and to support the administration of justice in Los Angeles County, becoming a Temporary Judge is for them.  The Los Angeles Superior Court will be conducting a mandatory Bench Conduct and Demeanor training on January 29, 2016.     The Superior Court of California, County of Orange (“Court”) recently released a Request for Qualifications (“RFQ”) to establish panels of qualified private attorneys to represent indigent adults in criminal proceedings when the County’s Public Defender, the County’s Alternate Defender, and/or the County’s Associate Defender declare a conflict of interest. Panels include: Misdemeanor (primary), Misdemeanor (secondary), Felony (primary), Felony (secondary), Habeas Corpus, and Murder/Capital.

    Attorneys may apply for one or multiple panels, however this does not guarantee contract award for all of the requested panels.

    All attorneys, including attorneys on the existing panel, MUST submit a complete application and CV/Resume before December 16, 2015 at 4:00 p.m. PST for consideration.

    A proposal to update the Uniform Bail and Penalty Schedule has been published for comment at

    The Traffic Advisory Committee proposes revisions to the Uniform Bail and Penalty Schedules: 2016 Edition, to become effective January 1, 2016. The proposed revisions bring the schedules into conformance with recent legislation as required under Vehicle Code section 40310 and Penal Code section 1269b.
    The deadline for comment is Tuesday, November 3, 2015.

    Applications for membership on the Capital Habeas Attorney Panel for the Central District of California are now being accepted.
    Habeas corpus petitions involving the death penalty that are not assigned to the Office of the Federal Public Defender will be assigned to attorneys on the Capital Habeas Attorney Panel. Attorneys who apply for panel membership agree to accept the assignment of at least one capital habeas case.
    Applicants will be screened to ensure they possess the background, knowledge, and experience required by 18 U.S.C. § 3599, and necessary to represent a petitioner properly, with due consideration to the seriousness of the penalty and to the unique and complex nature of the litigation. State or federal habeas experience is highly desirable.
    Interested attorneys must submit a completed application, writing samples, and references. The application form and instructions are available on the Court’s web site at Completed applications must be submitted by November 30, 2015.
