Summer Sizzle Fundraiser & 2010 Judge of the Year Award

Join us as we present the OCWLA’s 2010 Judge of the Year Award to the Honorable Arthur Nakazato!

The Orange County Women Lawyers Association (OCWLA) is hosting our Annual SUMMER SIZZLE AND JUDGE OF THE YEAR event this August. This special summer event brings together over 200 of Orange County’s top legal, judicial and community leaders. The event is open to men and women and non-attorney guests of OCWLA members and friends.

Silent Auction
I invite you to participate by donating your company’s special products, services, event tickets, gift baskets, memorabilia, etc. Your donation will allow you to make our members and guests aware of your business, while supporting worthy causes. The Silent Auction will be held on August 3, 2010. Please see the attached donation sheet, and return it as soon as possible.

Sponsorships
In addition to silent auction items, we are also looking for sponsors. Please take a moment to look at the fun options available that will get your company or firm name out to all our guests! All sponsorships provide you visual and verbal recognition at the event. Last year, because of your generosity, we donated several thousand dollars to charity.

Charities Benefited
Proceeds of this event once again benefit many worthy causes, such as El Viento, the Public Law Center, Orange County’s Collaborative or “problem solving” Courts, and OCWLA’s bar stipend funds.

• El Viento offers mentoring and educational support to our local community’s needy children. Last year, we sponsored six children in this program.
• Public Law Center, a non-profit 501(c)(3) group affiliated with the Orange County Bar Association. It provides free legal assistance for Orange County’s indigent families.
• Collaborative or “problem solving” Courts are specialized court tracks that address underlying issues that may be present in the lives of persons who come before the court on criminal, juvenile, or dependency matters. These life-changing programs involve active judicial monitoring and a team approach to decision making, and include the participation of a variety of different agencies, such as Probation and health treatment providers.
• OCWLA’s bar stipend funds to benefit law student graduates from OC law schools. In 2008 OCWLA launched its Diversity Bar Stipend Award, joining the Association’s long-standing bar stipend awards program. In May 2010, we presented two much deserved bar stipends to assist our recipients with their preparation for taking the California Bar Examination.
